Kinneil Kerse Landfill Site - Proposed Restoration Project

Public Consultation

4 May 2010 - Bo'ness Library

Falkirk Council have enlisted the expertise of Glasgow based Atkins, the UK's largest engineering and design consultancy, to develop a plan for the regeneration and restoration of the Kinneil Kerse Landfill site.

The restoration is planned to progessively restore, over a period of 10 or so years, the existing landfill site to provide a community resource.

An environmentally friendly approach is proposed using existing materials eg soil hospital and composting facilites, to landscape the area maintaining and protecting the existing SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and bird reserves.

One public consultation event has already been held on 12 April 2010 with a presentation to the Bo'ness Community Council given at meeting on 14 April 2010.

Second Public Consultation

A second public consultation event has been organised for 4 May 2010 to be held in the Bo’ness Library, Scotland's Close, Bo'ness, EH51 0AH between the hours of 2pm to 6pm.

Participation from the wider community of Bo’ness and Grangemouth is being sought to keep both communities up-to-speed on developments and to get feedback and suggestions on its end use and facilities.

An advert will be placed in the Falkirk Herald and Bo’ness Journal no later than 7 days prior to the consultation event being held.

Public Opinion and Suggestions Welcome

All residents are encouraged and welcome to attend and voice their opinions and suggestions.

There is no formal presentation proposed and representatives of both Falkirk Council and Atkins will be on hand to answer questions throughout the afternoon.
